Our Story

A group of mostly Central City residents who attended Mamre Evangelical Free Church began a Thursday night Bible study group in homes. “Our constant prayer was that God would accomplish His perfect will in our group and that we might neither go ahead of Him nor lag behind.”

“We prayerfully submitted a bid of $10,125 for the Free Methodist Church property. God answered the prayer in the affirmative.”

“On a Sunday afternoon, we gathered at the church that God had given us. A short service of songs and prayer was held. We sang “To God Be the Glory.” The building was in need of renovation, and the men of the church worked hard, completely remodeling the inside until it looked like new.”

“With singleness of heart, the doors of the Evangelical Free Church of Central City were opened for the first time for worship services. The Lord’s presence was keenly felt. With a sense of wonder and awe we rejoice that ‘with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” Matt 19:26

“Perhaps the most significant factor has been the unity of the members, a oneness in the desire to reach the lost in our community with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are looking forward to what God has for us in the coming months and years. According to Scripture, it will be ‘exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.’” Eph. 3:20

Hired Zeke Pipher as lead pastor.

Changed name to Heartland Evangelical Free Church.

North addition dedication service.
